TURNERS FALLS, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — FirstLight has been ordered to pay a $25,000 fine after violating regulations when a hydraulic oil spill occurred in June, releasing 445 gallons of hydraulic oil into the Connecticut River.

Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection is suspending $5,000 of the fine if FirstLight remains in compliance with the rest of their order, which includes provisions for a professional review of their hydraulic system and make recommendations for updates to prevent future oil spills.
