(Greenfield, MA) — A long dormant former Greenfield industrial site is about to come under new ownership. The Greenfield City Council has approved a request to declare the former Besley-Bendix property on Laurel Street surplus property, which will allow the mayor to sell it to a company which plans to use it for a cannabis growing operation. The Bendix site was taken by the city during the 1990s for non-payment of taxes and has been the subject of an extensive environmental cleanup effort over the years.
