GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — A full slate of State Tournament games are on tap for Thursday. In girls basketball, the Frontier Red Hawks host Lunenburg High School in the Girls Division 4 Round of 32. Tipoff is set for 6:00 p.m. at Goodnow Gymnasium in South Deerfield. In the Girls Division 5 Round of 32, two local teams are in action. The Mahar Senators are at home against the Lee Wildcats at 6:00 p.m., while the Pioneer Panthers take on Hull at Messer Gymnasium in Northfield. Gametime is set for 6:30 p.m. Winners advance to the Round of 16, at a date and time to be determined.

Wednesday night, the Lady Wave of Greenfield saw their season come to an end in a 58-34 loss to Narragansett Regional at Nichols Gymnasium. The Wave will return all but two players next year, so hopes are high for a continued resurgence of Greenfield girls basketball.

The GHS hockey team takes its show on the road for a Round of 32 contest at Martha’s Vineyard. They’ll drop the puck at 4:30 p.m.
