(Sunderland, MA) Three local activist groups are planning a protest this afternoon in Sunderland. The Sunderland Human Rights Task Force, the Deerfield Inclusion Group and the Hatfield Equity Alliance Against Racism Together are planning a standout to mark the murder of George Floyd who was killed by a Minneapolis police officer three years ago.
The standout will begin this afternoon at 4 at the Sunderland Public Library and will then move to the bridge on Route 116 that crosses the Connecticut River. This is the third year of the standout which has a goal of raising awareness about racial justice in the United States. Other standouts are also planned today in Ashfield, Shelburne Falls, Greenfield and Charlemont.
