GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Franklin Regional Council of Governments (FRCOG) will conduct an infrastructure inventory in Greenfield’s Deerfield, Main, and Chapman Streets to renew the city’s Slum and Blight designation for the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program.

This designation, expiring in 2026, helps secure federal funds for infrastructure repairs and revitalization efforts. The city is applying for renewal by the April 14 deadline. The proposed $850,000 CDBG budget will fund housing rehab, sidewalk improvements, and public services.

FRCOG’s inventory will assess property disrepair and infrastructure conditions to meet the “slum and blight” criteria.
