Staff Report

(Franklin County, MA) The Franklin Regional Council of Governments will be distributing money to small towns to help alleviate the cost of recent additional training requirements for police officers. Last year the Massachusetts Legislature created a law which requires parttime officers to take part in a “Bridge Academy” that includes 200 additional hours of officer training. Small towns have discovered the cost to be anywhere between $3000-$8000 per officer. The FRCOG will be distributing $100,000 to help with this cost.
