(Boston, MA) Massachusetts is the fifth state to announce free lunches for all students in the upcoming 2022-2023 school year. Governor Baker signed the pilot program into law with a one-time investment of $110 million to feed students in kindergarten through twelfth grade.

With inflation, gas, and food prices on the rise this will provide relief to families and will save school systems and families the work of applying for free or reduced price lunches. Although families may still need to fill out the annual Household Application for Free and Reduced Price Meals as it provides valuable information schools use to apply for programs such as P-EBT and fee waivers.

This extends to all meals and snacks served at school, including breakfast. These meals will also be available to students who are out due to COVID-19.
