(Montague, MA) After multiple fatalities in recent fires, including one in Friday’s fire on Elliot Street in Brattleboro, Vermont, Montague residents will be able to get free smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. The Montague Center Fire Department, Turners Falls Fire Department, and the American Red Cross are teaming up to distribute and install smoke alarms to prevent future losses and save lives.
Residents can receive three free smoke alarms and a carbon monoxide detector. Eligibility requirements for the program include living in the Town of Montague, residence must have been built before 1975, and smoke alarms are more than ten years old.
