(GREENFIELD) –Area residents and lawmakers are expressing frustration with the state rollout of the coronavirus vaccine. Beginning Monday, Phase 2 of the vaccine rollout starts which means those 75 years of age and older will be able to be vaccinated.
Criticism includes slots being filled before users were able to complete the online form and a lack of internet to access the form. Eric Lesser, a representative from Longmeadow has filed an emergency bill for the state to create a dedicated phone line for those who would like to sign up for the vaccine.
An additional 3000 Covid-19 vaccines will be distributed per week beginning on Monday in western Massachusetts but online messages state that there are no vaccines available in Greenfield, Northampton, Holyoke and Springfield.
Gov. Charlie Baker said Thursday the state is working to launch a call center to help individuals who are currently eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine. The number of newly confirmed coronavirus deaths in Massachusetts rose by 43 Thursday, pushing the state’s confirmed COVID-19 death toll to 14,056.
