(Franklin County, MA) A GoFundMe page for local DJ Bobby C. Campbell started by Eric Kosciusko, owner of Manny’s Hardware in Greenfield, has raised almost $30,000 in aproximately four days. The page was created on October 12, and since then 570 donors have given towards the $35,000 goal.
Campbell said he didn’t know the page was going to be created, but is touched by the care and concern from the community. Campbell said is facing major surgery on his spine that will fuse the C-5 and C-6 vertebrae in his neck. After the surgery, 60% of the effected portion of his body will recover. The other 40%, according to Campbell, will not recover. He does not yet know what parts of his body will recover and what parts will not recover. He is, however, grateful to his friends and family for the outreach.
“I am so blessed and I have such a good community behind me,” said Campbell.
Campbell won’t be doing much this winter. He’s been told by his doctor to keep it simple during the snow and ice, due to the damage to his spine. He said he had to give away his DJ jobs to other DJs around the area, but is hopeful he will be able to work at a wedding in May. Before and after the surgery he will be at a rehab facility in Ludlow where he will work on regaining the use of the impacted portions of his body.
Campbell said that the problem with his spine isn’t due to a fall or injury, but due to deterioration over time. After his period of recovery in the rehab center, he will work to recover at home.
