(Franklin County, MA) After record high gas prices earlier this year, fuel prices have declined for thirteen weeks in a row. As of September 13th, the Massachusetts average is $3.78 a gallon, more than it was a year ago but almost two dollars less than the peak price of $5.82 a gallon in June.

Franklin County’s average is $3.59 a gallon as of September 13th according to AAA. The declining prices are due to a decline in oil costs. AAA spokesperson Andrew Gross said, “Less expensive oil usually leads to less expensive gas for drivers. This trend has helped pump prices fall steadily for three straight months and, with fall approaching, more markets could soon see prices below $3 per gallon.”
