(Greenfield, MA) Greenfield Community College Foundation has sold the downtown campus center in December for $700,000 after closing the center and moving the Community Engagement and Workforce Development operations to the main campus in February 2022.

According to Massachusetts Land Records, the buyer is a company called 270 Main Greenfield LLC led by David Mell of Northampton who also owns Viva Tubes, a vintage vacuum tube and audio parts store in Easthampton.

In their January 2022 announcement of the closure of the Main Street campus, Richard Hopper, interim President of Greenfield Community College said, “The pandemic required us to pivot to more remote offerings, thereby freeing up some classroom and office spaces. We are taking this opportunity to consolidate operations and bring our community closer together.”

In the same announcement Greenfield Community College said the Foundation will invest the proceeds from the sale to fund scholarships, student life and other strategic initiatives.
