(Turners Falls, MA) A guilty plea was entered into Franklin Superior Court yesterday by a Turners Falls man accused of being behind the wheel of a car which crashed into another on Route 2 in 2020. The crash resulted in the death of a Deerfield native and his dog. 63-year-old George T Cortina changed his plea pertaining to charges of motor vehicle homicide while operating under the influence of drugs. Jonathan Rohrs of Acton, MA grew up in Deerfield and was driving a Toyota Yaris that was hit by a Ford Explorer driven by Cortina on October 4th, 2020 in the area of the Route 2 bypass in Greenfield. Judge Michael Callan stated that he would need time before announcing Cortina’s sentence.
