GILL, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Interim Superintendent for the Gill-Montague Regional School District wrote home to families about the impacts the federal education funding freeze will have on this upcoming school year.

The whole of Massachusetts is awaiting approximately $107 million in education funding. The Gill-Montague district is specifically awaiting $40,000 in funding for professional development, $9,000 for English language learners, and $25,000 for professional development and AP/PSAT fees and supplies. Several positions are also at risk of not being funded and the federally funded employees have been notified that their positions are at risk.

The Superintendent and School Committee are working on contingency plans in the case that the funds are not released, however they are currently moving forward with all programs and positions until the funding situation becomes more clear.
