BOSTON, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Governor Maura Healey announced Thursday a new initiative aimed at creating more jobs, DRIVE; Discovery, Research, and Innovation for a Vibrant Economy.

Governor Healey will be proposing $400 million to “leverage private and institutional resources to retain world-class talent, preserve jobs and protect the engines of Massachusetts’ innovation economy,” according to the Governor’s Office.

$200 million of that will go to MassDevelopment for a one-time multi-year research funding pool and the other $200 million will go to a public high education bridge funding reserve.
