GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLINCOUNTYNOW) –Greenfield Police Chief Todd Dodge is asking for patience from the public as processing of firearms applications has apparently slowed significantly at the state level.
From the Chief:
In an attempt to reduce the overwhelming number of phone calls into the Police Department relative to firearms license applications I wanted everyone to know that the processing of Firearm’s Licenses has slowed to the point where most are taking upwards of 12 to 13 weeks to be delivered after the original interview. This is not something the Greenfield Police Department, or any local police department, has any control over. The State is processing thousands upon thousands of licenses and has clearly fallen behind.
Please be patient. If it has not been 12 weeks since your interview, rather than calling, please wait and I’m certain you’ll receive your license soon.
