GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Greenfield Fire Department will be celebrating their move into the new fire station on Main Street with a grand opening ceremony on Monday June 10th at 11 am. Then, on Saturday, June 15th from 10 am to 1 pm the fire station will be open for the community to explore. The new fire station expenses are estimated at $21.7 million, including the costs associated with the temporary fire station on Hope Street.

GREENFIELD – The Greenfield Fire Department will celebrate the grand opening of the new Greenfield Fire Station at 41 Main St. with two events next week.
On Monday, June 10, at 11 AM, the Greenfield Fire Department will host the grand opening ceremony for the new fire station. The ceremony will include remarks from Mayor Virginia “Ginny” Desorgher, Greenfield Fire Chief Robert Strahan, US Representative Jim McGovern’s Regional Manager Koby Gardner-Levine and several esteemed figures behind the project’s construction.
On Saturday, June 15, from 10 AM – to 1 PM, the Greenfield Fire Station welcomes the community to the Greenfield Fire Station Open House. This celebration invites the community members to experience the new fire station.
“We are thrilled to unveil the new Greenfield Fire Station. We welcome the community to join the Fire Department in celebrating this momentous occasion,” said Mayor Virginia “Ginny” Desorgher.
The new fire station was a collaboration between Greenfield, Northampton general contractor D.A. Sullivan & Sons and H2M architects + engineers. D.A. Sullivan & Sons oversaw the construction process, while H2M architects + engineers aided the city with design and planning stages, such as location selection for the fire station. Neil Joyce of Construction Monitoring Services aligned the building process as the owner’s project manager.
Expenses for the new fire station are estimated at $21.7 million. The sum also includes the cost of the temporary fire station on 53 Hope St. that became operational in September 2021. The Fire Department vacated its former headquarters to make room for the new Greenfield Public Library on 412 Main St. The city is currently disassembling the temporary fire station.
