GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Green River Swimming and Recreation area in Greenfield hopes to open for swimming this weekend after not allowing swimming this past weekend, which was opening weekend. Elevated bacteria levels in the river due to heavy rains was the culprit.
The Greenfield Recreation Department is re-testing the water this week in hopes of allowing swimming this coming weekend. The rest of the park remains open, including picnic areas, playground, basketball court, and the new cornhole and ping pong games.
