(Greenfield, MA) — The ongoing demolition of Greenfield’s former fire station recently unearthed a piece of history. Firefighters recently opened a time capsule which was buried during the building’s construction in 1936. The capsule was unearthed from the southeast corner of the building and contained a newspaper article on the new station, an annual town report from 1936 and a Greenfield Town Meeting warrant from 1935, among other items. The building is being removed to make room for Greenfield’s new public library.
