(Greenfield, MA) — Greenfield now has its first-ever “Community Preservation Committee.” The Greenfield City Council has approved the appointment of the first members of the nine-person committee, which will be charged with recommending which projects may qualify for grant funding under the town’s recently-passed Community Preservation Act. Greenfield residents at the last election approved a ballot question to accept a section of Mass. General Law which allows towns to add a surcharge to each property tax bill, money which would be set aside for specific projects which otherwise might not be funded. The CPC’s job will be to recommend projects to the full city council, which will then have to vote to approve the funding.

The members of the committee are as follows:

Travis Drury (Conservation Commission appointee)

John Passiglia (Historical Commission appointee)

Thomas Guerino (Housing Authority appointee)

Barbara Zaccheo (Recreation Commission appointee)

Mark Maloni (Planning Board appointee)

 Susan Worgaftik (Council President appointee)

Wisty Rorabacher (Council President appointee)

Garth Shaneyfelt (Mayoral appointee)

Yanis Chibani (Mayoral appointee)
