(Greenfield, MA) — The city of Greenfield has a budget in place for next year. The Greenfield City Council last night approved Mayor Roxann Wedegartner’s $54.5 million dollar spending plan for the fiscal year beginning July first. The budget was passed largely without objection with the exception of the assessor’s budget, which survived an attempt by City Councilor Virginia Desorgher to convince her colleagues to cut $107,500 from the budget because of what Desorgher feels has been ineffective operation by that department with regarding to the accurate assessment of Greenfield’s property values.
