(Greenfield, MA) — The Greenfield City Council is preparing to vote next week on a ballot question which would alter the number of signatures needed to put a referendum in front of the voters. The council’s Appointments and Ordinances Committee has voted unanimously to recommend the ballot question, which would alter the city’s charter threshold for referendum signatures from 10 percent of voters voting in the last biennial election to 7 percent of all registered voters. If approved by the full council, the question will go before voters this November.
