Greenfield City Council To Vote On Pay Increases For Police Chief, Deputy Chief Negotiated By Former Mayor

(Greenfield, MA) Greenfield City Council’s Ways and Means committee discussed the financial order for approximately $55,000 to fund salary increases for the Police Chief Robert Haigh and Deputy Chief William Gordon. The two negotiated salary increases with former Mayor Roxann Wedegartner for education incentives and physical fitness incentives, which were submitted to the city’s HR Department on Election Day causing councilors to question the timing and appropriateness of significant salary increases. The financial order will be read as a first reading at tonight’s city council meeting.
