GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — Greenfield is considering an ordinance to designate the city as a sanctuary for transgender and gender-diverse individuals, ensuring access to gender-affirming care.

Originally proposed as a resolution by resident Trystan Greist, the measure follows similar actions in Northampton, Boston, and North Adams. City Council President Lora Wondolowski supports making it a legally backed ordinance to protect residents from discrimination and prosecution.

The proposal heads to the Community Relations Committee on April 21, with hopes for a City Council vote before Pride Month in June.
