(Greenfield, MA) — The city of Greenfield now has $16 million dollars to spend on a new fire station. The Greenfield City Council last night voted 12-nothing with one abstention to add an additional $6 million dollars to the $10 million already appropriated for the project. The city is currently negotiating for a permanent Main Street site for the fire house while making plans for a temporary facility on Hope Street. The current fire station property will be demolished to make way for a new public library, which is slated to break ground in late April.
