(Greenfield, MA) The Greenfield DPW Office is set to be the city’s first net-zero energy building following the donation and installation of a new solar array from Greenfield resident Bill Ashley. The DPW office was built in 2019, and designed to be ready for solar power, now with the new panels, the building will eliminate their annual energy bill according to Energy and Sustainability Department Director Carole Collins as the solar array generates as much energy as the building consumes over the course of the year. This is just one of Ashley’s solar projects since he began donating solar array’s in 2019.
