(Greenfield, MA) The City of Greenfield has found a new finance director. Mayor Wedegartner has appointed Greenfield native, Diana Schindler to the role, which she began Monday. Schindler has previously worked as town administrator in Hopedale and Deerfield. She has over 25 years of experience in municipal government.

“We are thrilled to welcome Diana to City Hall. She brings considerable experience to the job and the fact that she lives here and knows the community is certainly a plus,” said Mayor Wedegartner. “I also want to thank outgoing Finance Director Liz Gilman for staying on longer than expected to ensure a smooth transition. I wish Liz a restful and enjoyable retirement.”

“I’m excited to be working in my hometown! To be able to bring my skills and expertise, doing what I love, for the community that has provided a wonderful quality of life for my family, is a dream come true,” said Schindler. “I look forward to being part of Greenfield’s economic growth and continued success.”

The Director of Finance is the City’s chief financial officer who oversees the Assessor, Accounting, Treasurer/Collector and Procurement offices and works with the Mayor in developing the City’s capital and operating budgets. Liz Gilman, the previous finance director, will remain on as a resource to aid in the transition as the budget process for the 2024 fiscal year begins.
