(Greenfield, MA) Emergency personnel in Franklin County are keeping careful track of the progress of Tropical Storm Henri. The Greenfield Fire Department has issued some safety guidance while the exact impact of the storm develops. Residents should stay away from flooded areas and remember that flash flooding can happen quickly and without notice. Stay a safe distance from downed power lines, two poles length is recommended. Tents, tarps, barrels, patio furniture, and other lightweight objects should be brought inside so they don’t blow away. Do not use gas grills, propane heaters, gas generators, and other combustion devices that can produce carbon monoxide. Last, keep a stocked first aid kit, a flashlight, batteries, bottled water, and other essentials in case of power outages.
