GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The city of Greenfield has announced an expansion of the new “Free Lunch Parking” initiative. The new program allows for free parking weekdays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Olive Street Parking Garage.

Beginning on Thursday, October 10, the city will offer free parking in the Legion Parking Lot from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday, to support dining at the over 25 restaurants in downtown Greenfield.

This decision follows an October 1 media release that announced free parking for the Olive Street Parking Garage. Mayor Ginny Desorgher and the Greenfield Community and Economic Development Department created this new parking initiative to promote the city’s vibrant business community during the fall tourism season.

“Our downtown is a beautiful space that features a wealth of tremendous businesses,” said Desorgher. “I believe that including the Legion Lot in our new free lunch parking program is a great way to support businesses as we approach the busy fall season.”

Here is a breakdown of when parking is free or paid hourly at the Legion Parking Lot:

FREE PARKING

  • Monday through Friday, 11 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • Weekends and Evenings

HOURLY PAID PARKING (Olive Street Parking Garage and Legion Lot only)
Parking is $.40 per hour

  • Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Paid parking is still in place from Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at those locations.
