(Greenfield, MA) The man who is accused of shooting fifteen rounds into a Greenfield Gardens apartment and then fleeing this past July had a court appearance Monday. 28 year-old Qadree Hutchins of Springfield is being held without bail until a dangerousness hearing that will take place Thursday, December 8th. Hutchins is being charged with discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building, disorderly conduct, vandalism, possession of a firearm without a license to carry and possession of ammunition without an FID card, as well as disturbing the peace. 

 

Greenfield Police Department’s Statement on the incident from July 25th, 2022:

“Today, Monday, July 25th 2022 at approximately 1:15 p.m. a late model, black Honda Accord, possibly with New York tags, pulled up in front of a residence in Forbes Ct. A male subject approached the front door of the residence and began to aggressively knock and yell into the residence. After receiving no response, and in broad daylight, the male party stepped back and fired at least four shots, from what is believed to be a 9mm pistol, into the front door causing damage to the screen/storm door, main door and siding surrounding the door. One of the shots traveled all the way through the apartment, through both the back door and screen/storm door, exiting out into the yard behind the apartment. The male party then walked back to his vehicle, and while possibly leaning over the hood of the vehicle, discharged at least 8 more rounds into the residence. The suspect then entered the vehicle and fled the scene.

Officers Kratz and Johansson, after receiving the radio transmission from Dispatch who relayed a description of the fleeing vehicle, observed the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed southbound on Elm St. and then westbound onto the Mohawk Trail and lost sight of it in the pursuit.
Detective Justin Purinton, who was working a road job/detail on River St., observed the vehicle pass by his location at a high rate of speed. All four Officers on duty were dispatched to assist however could not locate the vehicle prior to it leaving Greenfield.
Chief Paciorek of Deerfield picked up the vehicle in Deerfield and pursued it for a short period before losing sight of it on Deerfield’s back roads.
Bulletins were issued to all county departments, including the Mass State Police, and the fleeing vehicle is believed to have been last seen on Bay Rd. in Amherst.
The identity of the suspect and vehicle involved are being withheld for further investigation.
The Mass State Police Detective Unit, as well as MSP Crime Scene Services and MSP ballistics units were called to the scene to assist in the investigation.
This shooting event marks the third active shooting incident in Greenfield in just over a month, not including several other calls where firearms were located and taken into custody for being illegally possessed.”
