(Greenfield, MA) The Greenfield Historical Commission has examined the possibility of removing the 1955 addition to the Greenfield Public Library. Members of the Historical Commission believe removing the addition would make the building more consistent in style and with its historic value. The board voted in favor of removing the addition and sent an inquiry to the Massachusetts Historical Commission to determine if the addition could be removed. However, Mayor Wedegartner said she would not support removing the addition with city funds. The future use of the Leavitt-Hovey House is uncertain although the Mayor said one possible use may be city offices.
