(Greenfield, MA)  — A project to build a new $20.5 million dollar Greenfield Public Library is officially underway. City officials and library supporters gathered on Main Street Thursday to unveil a large photo of the proposed building, which is being constructed on land which now occupies a parking area and the current Greenfield Fire Station building. Construction is set to begin later this summer. Thursday’s event was also attended by about a dozen protesters carrying signs opposing the project, which is being paid for, in part, by state grant money.
