(Greenfield, MA) — A group of Greenfield residents want to see a more public discussion regarding the future of the former Lunt property on Federal Street. A total of 32 residents, including five city councilors, have signed a petition calling on the Lunt project to be subject to a “Public Involvement Plan.” Mayor Roxann Wedegartner is looking to do a final sale of the property, which has been under a lease-to-buy agreement for a number of years. But some residents remain concerned that the ongoing environmental cleanup of the former silversmith site has not been done up to the standard of what would be required for use as a residential site, which is how the property is expected to be used.
