(Greenfield, MA) A 28 year-old Greenfield man has died after suffering a medical event while detained after being arrested Monday.
According to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office, the Greenfield man was arrested on drug charges following a motor vehicle stop on Route 2A in Greenfield Monday evening. During the stop, State Troopers found what they suspected to be cocaine.
The man was arrested and transported to the Shelburne Falls State Police Barracks shortly before 3 a.m. Tuesday morning and then suffered a “significant medical event” requiring transportation to Baystate Franklin Medical Center in Greenfield. The man died in the hospital Wednesday morning.
The Northwestern DA’s Office stated there were no signs of foul play. The incident is being investigated by the Massachusetts State Police Detective Unit attached to the Northwestern District Attorney’s Office and the cause of death will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.
