GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The suspect in a Greenfield murder case has been indicted by a grand jury and faces arraignment on a charge of murder later this month.

42-year-old Taaniel Herberger-Brown is accused of killing 35-year-old Christopher Hairston of Pittsfield. Hairston’s body was discovered in a Chapman Street apartment in April after neighbors had reported a foul odor coming from the apartment.

Herberger-Brown was arrested at Albany International Airport and was returned to Massachusetts, where he pleaded not guilty to a single charge of murder in July. A grand jury convened last month, leading to Tuesday’s indictment.

Herberger-Brown will be arraigned in Franklin Superior Court on October 21.
