(Greenfield, MA) Greenfield Police have made three arrests after a shooting in Leyden Woods in Greenfield. On Friday, June 10th at 12:06 a.m. Greenfield Police were called to Leyden Woods’ Juniper Court after reports of gun shots and a fight between multiple men leaving one man shot.

The police determined that earlier in the evening a fight broke out between John McKnight and another man. McKnight struck the victim with a pipe-like object, broke the windows of two vehicles, and then left the scene. McKnight later returned with two other men, Robert Byrd and De Andre Clark. Byrd and Clark were both holding firearms when Byrd threatened to kill the victim. The victim was shot by Byrd and suffered a minor injury and Clark fired his weapon into the air. 

The Greenfield Police arrested McKnight, Byrd, and Clark (details on the arrests below). The Massachusetts State Police and Northwestern District Attorney and Anti-Crime Task Force assisted in the incident. 

John McKnight, 41 years old of Turners Falls, was arrested on scene and charged with Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon and two counts of Malicious Damage to a Motor Vehicle.

Robert Byrd, 21 years old of Greenfield, arrested on charges of Carrying a Firearm without a license, Possession of ammunition without FID license, Discharge of a Firearm within 500 feet of a building, Assault with a Danergous Weapon, and Assault and Battery with a firearm. He is being held on $35,000 bail at the Franklin County House of Correction.

De Andre Clark, 21 years old of Brattleboro, Vermont, left the scene but turned himself in and was arrested without incident. He is facing charges of Carrying a Firearm without a license, Possession of ammunition without a FID license, Discharge of a Firearm within 500 feet of a building, Assault with a Dangerous Weapon, and Assault and Battery with a firearm.
