GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — At Wednesday’s Greenfield Public Safety Commission meeting, fire chief Robert Strahan shared that the new station is expected to be ready for occupancy by May 15th as many of the finishing steps are coming into place. Chief Strahan also noted that last year’s call volume was the highest he has ever seen, a trend he has noticed in recent years.

Also at the Public Safety Commission meeting, Greenfield’s Acting Police Chief Todd Dodge shared that plans to create a substation in downtown are in the very early stages. The substation would be a small outreach center potentially manned by two officers, allowing for faster response times and greater visibility.
