(Greenfield, MA) The Massachusetts Department of Housing & Community Development (DHCD) recently notified the City of Greenfield of an FY2020 Massachusetts Downtown Initiative Technical Assistance Program Award of $15,000. This award is to provide Greenfield with consulting services for a market analysis to support the Greenfield Downtown Revitalization Plan.

“Although the timing of receiving this grant seems at odds with the economic constraints brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly in our downtown business, we welcome good news during this time more than any, and this is really good news,” said Mayor Roxanne Wedegartner in a recent statement.

The grant is one of the first steps in a true market analysis of where Greenfield is at with downtown business. “It couldn’t have come at a better time,” said MJ Adams, Director of Economic and Community Development.  Although the work on the grant will not begin until late summer or early Fall, after Greenfield gets back up and running the impact of the pandemic on local business will be more clear.
