(Greenfield, MA)  — There are now four new potential sites for a new Greenfield Public Safety complex.

Greenfield Mayor Roxann Wedegartner told the city council Wednesday night that the town received four proposals for properties which could house a new fire station and, eventually, a public safety complex to house the police and fire departments and the city’s dispatch and emergency services.

“Each of these proposals constitutes several million dollars, which is not unusual for a project of this size,” Wedegartner said.

The four sites in question are the former Carr Hardware property near the intersection of Wells and Main streets, the Greenfield Open Air Market on Main Street, the former Barn grocery property on River Street and the Congregational Church building on Silver Street.

One property which was not mentioned in the presentation is the Riddell Street parcel which had previously been identified as a possible fire station site. The city council has already approved $10 million in borrowing authority for the new public safety complex. The Fire Station Building Committee will meet this coming Monday to begin vetting the proposal.
