(Greenfield, MA) — A group of Greenfield residents is not happy with the city’s decision to close Court Square to vehicular traffic. A group of 35 residents informed the city council last night that they are circulating a petition calling for the area near the common to be restored, arguing that the city did not conduct enough of a public process before instituting those changes. Mayor Roxann Wedegartner said the closure is part of a pilot program intended to generate more foot traffic in the downtown area.
