(Greenfield, MA)  — Greenfield’s Public School business manager is leaving the district.

Greenfield School Superintendent Jordana Harper has confirmed that Stephen Nembirkow has resigned his position, effective June 30. Harper says Nembirkow will use accrued vacation, sick and personal time for the final month, which means he will depart the central office at the end of May. She declined to comment further.

Nembirkow is leaving to become the assistant superintendent of schools in Andover. He took over as Greenfield’s school business manager in 2018 after serving in a similar role in the Mohawk Trail Regional School District. Later that summer, he served as the city’s finance director in a pro bono role after then-finance director Elizabeth Braccia was not reappointed by Mayor Bill Martin.

Nembirkow is the son of former Greenfield School Superintendent Basan Nembirkow, who served in that position from 1996 to 2002.
