GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLIN COUNTY NOW) — The Greenfield School Committee is holding a special meeting tonight with a public hearing on the proposed $27.8 million budget for the coming fiscal year. The proposed budget has an increase of 5.86% in local spending over the previous fiscal year, however in total funds, the proposed budget for FY25 is over $1 million less than the FY24 budget. At a recent city council meeting, councilors expressed concern over expensive administration costs. At the city council meeting, both members of the public and some councilors expressed a desire to see more funding go towards arts and music programs for students.
