(Greenfield, MA) — A decision by Greenfield’s school superintendent to temporarily close school buildings to in-person learning because of COVID 19 isn’t sitting well with some members of the school committee. A special meeting was held Tuesday to discuss Superintendent Jordana Harper’s decision to halt in-person learning at Greenfield’s schools for three days in response to a recent town-wide spike in COVID cases. Harper apparently made the decision after consulting with the city’s interim health director, but some committee members are questioning whether the superintendent has the authority to unilaterally make such a move without input from the committee. Another meeting on the matter is scheduled for Thursday night.
