Greenfield Schools To Scrap Columbus Day Beginning In 2022

(Greenfield, MA) — Columbus Day will now be known as “Indigenous People’s Day” in the Greenfield School system. The Greenfield School Committee voted at its most recent meeting to make the change beginning with the 2022-2023 school calendar year. Making that change statewide has been the topic of much debate recently on Beacon Hill, as supporters push for passage of a bill to that effect.
