(Montague, MA) — Emergency crews from Greenfield and Turners Falls spent part of Thursday night rescuing a stranded swimmer from the Connecticut River. Turners Fire officials say the unidentified man reportedly tried to swim across the Connecticut from Greenfield to Turners, but became fatigued and eventually stopped at a small island in the river, where he called 911 for help just after 5pm. First responders used a Turners department boat to rescue the man and bring him to dry land. He was not injured.
