(Greenfield, MA) — A piece of property used for passive recreational ;purposes will remain under the control of the city of Greenfield.
Mayor Roxann Wedegartner has announced that after receiving much feedback from a number of citizens, Greenfield will retain a 13-acre parcel on Stone Ridge Lane that abuts Rocky Mountain Park in Greenfield.
“What an opportunity to protect and preserve our natural environment and expand our green space in perpetuity. The Rocky Mountain ridge trail system is highly utilized and is a vital recreational resource for our community,” Recreation Director Christy Moore said.
An adjacent six-acre parcel containing a 2,900 square foot single-family home built in 1915 will be sold at auction on Wednesday, October 13 at noon on Court Square in front of City Hall.
