(Greenfield, MA) Greenfield has announced new grant funding from the American Association of Retired Persons Community Challenge Grant, which will help to fund a new pocket park located at the Fiske Avenue parking lot. The park will feature a rain garden and age friendly furniture, a chess table, bicycle pump and repair station, and a bench at the bus stop. The rain garden will filter rain water during big storms.

“We are incredibly proud that AARP selected Greenfield to receive this grant,” stated Mayor Roxann Wedegartner. “AARP is a nationwide leader on making neighborhoods, towns, and cities more livable for all residents and we are honored that they see the tangible value this project will bring to our community.”

Wedegartner also said the grant helps to push Greenfield towards the goal of a sustainable city that is vibrant and resilient.
