GREENFIELD, MA (FRANKLINCOUNTYNOW) — Mother Nature was the winner on Tuesday, as the much-anticipated softball rematch between Greenfield High School and Turners Falls High School was postponed Tuesday morning due to the forecast of rain showers.

The game will be made up Wednesday night at 7:00 at Gary Mullins Field at TFHS. The Thunder will be looking to avenge their only loss of the season so far, a 3-2 defeat Saturday afternoon at the hands of their rivals from Greenfield.

The Thunder certainly had opportunities against the Green Wave, putting runners on base in each inning, but failing to get a clutch hit with runners in scoring position until the seventh inning. Turners rallied from a 3-0 deficit to score twice. But Greenfield pitcher Kenzie Paulin was able to get the strikeout to end the game, leaving the tying run on third base and the potential go-ahead run on second. Paulin’s solo home run in the fifth ultimately turned out to be the game-winning run.
