(Greenfield, MA) — New data released by the state indicates a higher than expected level of COVID 19 contagion at one Greenfield nursing homes. Officials say the number of coronavirus cases at Buckley Nursing Home is over 30. Buckley was the first nursing facility in Greenfield to report positive cases. The state report indicates that Charlene Manor and Poet Seat Nursing homes in Greenfield have between 10 and 30 cases.
In a related story, increased COVID 19 testing will soon be on the way to Massachusetts nursing homes and long-term care facilities. Secretary of Health and Human Services Marylou Sudders says the state is deploying mobile testing units to nursing homes and care facilities which have been hard hit by the pandemic. Sudders says the goal is to get a more accurate count of positive cases and death rates in these facilities to better protect both residents and staff members.
