(Greenfield, MA) — Greenfield’s experiment to close Court Square to vehicular traffic is coming to an end–at least for the winter. The area directly in front of Greenfield City Hall was closed to cars this summer as part of a “Pilot Pedestrian Plaza” program. The program was intended to examine logistical issues which may need to be addressed to make that alignment permanent. A community design process will be held to consider feedback and comments from the public and to work on the next phase of the project. On Wednesday, the temporary planters and street furniture will be removed, and southbound traffic will be restored as will handicap and a new stop sign.
